Which VR tier is yours?
Four questions about what you are actually trying to train. You will land on a tier, see exactly which answer put you there, and know what changes if you go one step up or down. No email required.
Answer four questions.
Each answer sets a floor. Your tier is the one that clears the highest floor, because a program is sized by its most demanding requirement, not its average one.
Answer the four questions and your tier appears here.
What put you here: "". Everything else you told us fits inside this tier.
Your tier is Tier 1, Basic Simulation.
The starting point. An immersive 3D environment with guided training workflows, pass and fail validation, and basic reporting. No laser scanning and no complex asset modelling, which is why it is the fastest tier to stand up.
Best for: safety orientation, site familiarisation, equipment walkthroughs, hazard identification.
- One step up gets you: interactive equipment operation, branching scenarios and performance scoring.
What put you here: "". Everything else you told us fits inside this tier.
Your tier is Tier 2, Operational Training Simulator.
For teams practising real procedures, not orientation. Interactive equipment simulation, branching scenarios with operator decision points, and performance scoring and feedback so instructors can measure and improve results over time.
Best for: equipment operation, start-up and shutdown procedures, maintenance workflows, lockout and tagout.
- One step down saves you: the interactivity and the scoring. Worth taking if what you actually need is familiarisation.
- One step up gets you: instructor-controlled scenarios and the option to build on scans of your real areas.
What put you here: "". Everything else you told us fits inside this tier.
Your tier is Tier 3, Advanced Operations Simulator.
For complex environments where fidelity and scenario control matter. Instructors adapt scenarios in real time. Optionally built on laser scanning of your real equipment and areas, so the environment matches the site your people will walk into.
Best for: emergency response, process deviation scenarios, shutdown and turnaround preparation, complex operations training.
- One step down saves you: live instructor control and the scanned environment. Worth taking if your scenarios are fixed and your geometry is not the point.
- One step up gets you: a full-site twin, physics-based equipment behaviour, multi-role training and multi-site deployment.
What put you here: "". Everything else you told us fits inside this tier.
Your tier is Tier 4, Enterprise Digital Twin Simulator.
The complete program. A full-facility digital twin with physics-based equipment behaviour, AI-driven training feedback, multi-role training environments, optional physical cockpits or operator controls, multi-site deployment and continuous scenario expansion.
Best for: enterprise training programs, virtual commissioning, remote workforce training, multi-site standardisation.
- One step down saves you: the full-site twin and the multi-role environments. Worth taking if one area, one role and one site is genuinely the scope.

Four things worth knowing before you choose.
Most programs start at Tier 1 or Tier 2 and grow into the others. All four tiers run on an annual subscription and are designed to evolve, so the tier you start on is not the tier you are stuck with. Buying Tier 4 to future-proof usually means paying for scenarios nobody has written yet.
Laser scanning is the biggest single driver of cost and time. It is what makes Tier 3 and Tier 4 what they are. If your training does not depend on your exact geometry, you do not need it, and we will say so.
We will not give you a delivery date from a table. Scope defines the timeline. Bring us a real scenario and we will give you a realistic one before you commit to anything, which is the same answer you will get on every other page here.
The tier is not the hard part. The hard part is deciding which scenarios are worth building first. That is the conversation we would rather have with you, and it is free.
You know the tier. Now bring us the scenario.
Talk to a specialist and bring one real training problem: a procedure that goes wrong, a shutdown that takes too long, a role that takes a year to build. We will tell you which tier it needs and what it would take to build it. Real people, real industrial experience. No chatbots.
